New Highpower Rifle Match Schedule

|

Those of us who take care of such things have decided to change the monthly highpower match schedule.

We're trying to increase the number of the more popular 600yd prone matches and retain a regular schedule for the 1000yd prone. We hope this will make it easier to keep track of when the matches are and so attract more shooters.

Beginning in September the rotation will be:

August Roy Dunlap Match

|

Just a reminder,

Tucson Rifle Club's NRA approved Roy Dunlap 800-Aggregate Highpower Rifle Match will be held this coming Saturday 26 Aug 06.

We're in our warm weather mode and will be shooting two relays; scoring in the pits.

Any alibis strings will get one minute for prep, no sighters, and will be fired immediately after that relay's second string.

Range gate opens around 0630. Squadding starts on the 200yd line after the pits are set up.

First round downrange will be as close to 0700 as we can make it. Do not be late.

Match fees for adults are: NRA Match $15; Practice Match $10. Juniors shoot both matches for free.

See you there,

Maury

August John C Garand Match

|

Just a reminder,

Tucson Rifle Club's monthly John C Garand Match will be held this coming Sunday 20 Aug 06.

Range gate opens around 0630. Squadding starts on the 200yd line after the pits are set up. First round downrange at approx 0700.

Match fee is $10 for adults; juniors and military shoot for free.

Ammunition is available for use in the match: $10 for 60 rounds of M1 Rifle or M1 Carbine.

Several privately-owned rifles and carbines are available for loan free of charge. Club ammo must be purchased and used. Contact me if you need one.

Reduced targets to simulate the standard National Match Course are available on request. Ask for them when squadding.

See you there,

Maury

Tucson Smallbore Prone Reminder

|

This Sunday, August 13, 2006, is our monthly smallbore rifle prone match at Tucson Rifle Club.

Sign-in and range setup 7:30AM. Start shooting by 8:00AM.
$6.00 entry fee.
40 shots at 50 yards & 40 shots at 100 yards, plus a combined 50yd./100yd. Dewar. (120 total shots for record, plus unlimited sighters.)
Scope or iron sights.
No awards.
Some loaner rifles available (Please advise if you need one.)

This is good practice for refining your high power rifle skills as it emphasizes good hold and shot execution without the distraction of recoil and noise. Come try it! Its relaxing yet challenging, and the firing line is shaded.

Remember, this is a regularly scheduled event on the second Sunday of every month throughout the calendar year 2006. A complete match program is posted on the Tucson Rifle Club website www.tucsonrifleclub.org

If you have any questions, please send me an e-mail.

Match Director
