The proposed regulation change should restore the rights of law abiding citizens and gun owners. Law-abiding gun owners, once again would be permitted to transport and carry firearms for all lawful purposes on most Department of Interior lands, just as they do now on United States Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management lands.
This change in the Code of Federal Regulations should provide uniformity across all federal lands, making them consistent with the laws and regulations of the States, that the Department of Interior lands are located in.
Current regulations fail to account for the significant change in state laws since 1984. These Federal regulations that were established in the early 1980's should recognize the change in state laws and follow their lead.

One nice aspect of USPSA affiliation is that they have different age brackets and handgun classifications, including a handgun category named Production. That suits me fine as I shoot what I carry and that's pretty much factory stock.
Next month I'll bring my carry piece as well as my camera! Welcome aboard, SAPS.

While work is in progress, the 100 yard sight-in range adjacent to the 500m range will be closed. Additionally, note that Border Patrol is scheduled to use the Blackpowder range adjacent to the 100 yard site-in range Monday through Friday, 9a.m. - noon. The bottom line is that open shooting positions on the public ranges will be difficult or impossible to schedule (especially in the mornings) for duration of construction.
Work is estimated to be completed no sooner than Monday, January 21st, but may extend a bit longer depending on progress. Please call the Rangehouse for current range status (520-822-5189; Cells: 603-7873 or 603-7891) before coming out to Three Points--especially if you are planning on using any of the above ranges from now through next week.
