THE 2008 ARIZONA STATE NRA HUNTERS PISTOL, SMALLBORE HUNTERS PISTOL, SMALLBORE STANDING, SMALLBORE UNLIMITED STANDING PISTOL, AIR PISTOL, STANDING SILHOUETTE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Dates:

March 28, 29, & 30, 2008 (Fri, Sat, & Sun).  Range open for practice on prior Thursday and, time permitting, Friday.

Range:

Three Points Shooting Range, 26 miles west of I-19 on Highway 86, (Ajo highway), located at mile marker 148. The pistol range & targets will be available on Thursday March 27.

Eligibility:

Open to United States citizens who are members of the National Rifle Association & to non-citizens who are members of their respective National Shooting Associations.

Membership in the ASR&PA is not required to compete in this event, but a $5.00 discount is available to ASR&PA members.
Rules:   
Current NRA rules will apply.  These championships will utilize auto-reset targets. The events will not be squadded, you will find an opening and start shooting when you have picked up the proper score card from the statistician.

Course of fire:
      One 60 SHOT MATCH FOR EACH GUN, All matches fired concurrently.

Times:   
Matches commence at 09:00 Fri., Saturday, & Sunday.  Practice will be from 07:00-08:30 and as time allows after the conclusion of the matches. No shooting after 5 p.m. Range will be open for practice on Thursday.

Entry:       
Advance entry is preferred and will be accepted until March 15.  (Must be received by that date.)  Post entries will be taken to fill vacancies.  Note the increased cost.

Entry fees:
First gun $ 35.00, 2nd gun $25.00 with $10.00 each additional gun.  Juniors $15.00 and $5.00 net.  Entries received on or before March 15, will receive a $10.00 early entry discount on the total.  Proof of ASR&PA membership must accompany entry to receive the additional $5.00 discount. $120.00 for all guns.
        
Coaching:   
A shooter must have a score keeper who may also spot etc. This coach may not touch the shooter or their equipment during the firing period. This person must remain behind the line of shooters at all times.

Classification:
NRA pistol silhouette classification will be used. Classification books must be presented to the stat officer prior to any shooting. COMPETITORS WITHOUT classification books will be required to purchase one for $12.00. New shooters will be classified based on their first score.  IHMSA shooters will have their IHMSA classification converted to NRA and it will be entered into their NRA classification book.

Scoring:   
Competitors will be required to score for one other competitor.

Jury:   
A jury of 3 persons will be selected to act as the final onsite authority in the event of protests or disputes.

Equipment:   
Pistols must meet NRA specifications. All pistols will be weighed & certified before the match. Uncertified pistols will not be allowed on the firing line. IF ANY PARTS HAVE TO BE REMOVED FROM A PISTOL TO MAKE CERTIFICATION, THOSE PARTS WILL REMAIN AT THE STAT OFFICE UNTIL COMPLETION OF ALL COMPETITIONS.  IT WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE COMPETITOR TO CLAIM THESE PARTS AFTER THE LAST MATCH IS COMPLETED.

Ammunition:   
Provided by the competitor, must comply with NRA Pistol Silhouette rules. No hyper velocity ammo allowed. No target damage allowed.

Awards:    
Resident and non-resident state champion awards will be given in each event. In a row pins will be available for purchase if earned. Long runs will be fired after each day's matches. State champion, match winner, class awards, high woman, senior, super senior, and junior awards will be given. Match winner, state champion, high woman, senior, super senior, junior are not eligible to win class or special awards. Trophies given for each 60 shot match. A high Revolver award will be given. 
Special aggregate awards will be given, one for each of the following: 2 gun air pistol, 4 gun hunter pistol and smallbore hunter pistol, 2 gun smallbore pistol, and 8 gun grand aggregate. All awards will be given on Sunday afternoon following all ties being broken.

Ties:   
Time and conditions permitting all ties will be broken by shoot offs. Reverse animal count will be used if time is determined to be short by the match director.

Safety:   
All TRC and NRA safety rules will be strictly enforced. Failure to comply will be basis of disqualification with no return of entry fees. Tucson Rifle Club rules state that every person using the range will wear hearing protection, eye protection, and use an open bolt indicator (OBI) in each gun that is not enclosed in a case.  OBI's may be purchased at the range office.

Camping:   
Camping is available onsite. Dry camp is $6.00 and RV hookup (electric only) is $15.00 per day. Only 3 sewer hookups are available. Camping fees do not include any range use fees.  RSVP please for spaces at 520-822-5189.

Food & Water: 
A lunch break will be taken if time allows. Flush toilets and potable water are available at all times on the range.  A dinner for competitors will be available on Saturday night.
