CMP Western Games & Creedmoor Cup coming to Arizona

The following is the announcement from Dennis DeMille of Creedmoor Sports:

"To all;
We've decided to move this fall's Creedmoor Cup and Western Games from Camp Pendleton CA to the Ben Avery Range in Phoenix AZ. It was a decision we made jointly with the CMP. We're still working out the details but the dates will LIKELY be October 20-28, 2007. We fully intended on moving the 2008 matches to Phoenix, however, very recently it became necessary to make that move earlier than expected.

I hope this doesn't cause too much of a problem. The reason for this early post is I know some people who have fired in the last four Creedmoor Cups actually plan their vacation schedule around these matches. I just hope everybody who made those plans finds out about the change. If you know people who plan or planned on attending the Western Matches, please get this word to them.

Hopefully, those of you that have avoided the matches in the past due to it being held in "The land of fruits and nuts" (to quote Dick Whiting), will now give it shot.

Other good things: Dick Whiting will still be able to call the line; USAMU and the Marine Corps Team are now going to make an effort to attend (and put on the clinic); and Bushmaster will now be able to give out two match conditioned laser engraved rifles, just as they did at the Eastern Matches, whereas they wouldn't have been able to in CA. There are many more positives to this change and I'm hopeful some of you will point them out.

The match program for these matches will be finalized soon. The dates above are NOT carved in stone yet but hopefully they will be within a week. I will make an announcement both on this forum and as an internet blast from Creedmoor Sports as soon as the dates are confirmed.
