Cowboy Lever Action Silhouette

|

Attended the TRC Board of Directors meeting last night. Attendance seemed a bit light given that the Board was discussing range improvements potentially costing tens of thousands of dollars. Oh well, work is hoped to start in late November or December --pending official authorization from Game & Fish.

On a more interesting note, Joe Duchene has set up a new match tentatively scheduled to begin January 2004 on the 4th Saturday of the month--Cowboy Lever Action Silhouette Rifle. Cowboy Lever Action Silhouette has three classes of rifles: Cowboy Lever Action, any rimmed case, 25 caliber or greater; Pistol Cartridge; and Smallbore. Open sights only (hey, its Cowboy). Match will be conducted on the Pistol Silhouette range. Guess I'll need to start collecting Cowboy rifles... good thing replicas are allowed.

I hope this will help in the urgently needed recovery of pistol silhouette.
Reading the NRA Rules (3.1.3) I can see that darn near everyone
may (or should) have a lever gun of some sort.
Enhances my interest in buying 'just one more' lever rifle.
Or perhaps I'll stop by Cash Box and examine the multitude of .22 semi-autos they have. .22's I have in abundance, but none with 'tubular' magazines.

We did have this sort of thing in the heyday of pistol silhouette out at TRC (late 80's & early 90's) but never caught everyone's interest. Perhaps this time it will get more folks to come on out and shoot those peculiar lever guns.

Iron sights (open style) are easier to use for us 'older' folks when they are one rifles versus pistols (for the most part).

I shall mark my calendar for January 24th, 2004. Humm. Same day as the
Brawley Wash Cowboy Shoot. Wonder if any of those 'speed folks' want to try and test the accuracy of their rifles?
